The IBRO Funding Programme aims to foster neuroscience, especially in
less well-funded countries, by providing support to high quality
neuroscientists from diverse geographic and scientific areas (US/Canada
Region excluded). Funding is available for research fellowships, travel
grants, return home programs, regional exchanges and brain campaign
projects. For more information, go to the Funding web site.
RESEARCH FELLOWSHIPS
The research fellowships support post-doctoral training to applicants under the age of 45, for up to one year abroad in good laboratories. The funding for a 12-month fellowship is 33,300 euros. There are also several named fellowships available.
TRAVEL GRANTS
Travel grants of up to 1250 euros are provided to support neuroscientists in presenting their research findings at international neuroscience meetings. In partnership with the Society for Neuroscience, IBRO offers travel grants to the SfN annual meeting of up to $2000 US each for neuroscientists currently working and living in a resource-restricted country.
In partnership with NIDA (the National Institute on Drug Abuse, NIH) IBRO offers travel grants of up to 1250 euros to young investigators to present posters at the NIDA mini-convention, a satellite meeting of the SfN annual meeting.
RETURN HOME FUNDING
The objective of the Return Home Programme of IBRO is to develop specific policies and coordinate efforts with other organizations to both improve the opportunities for productive neuroscience research (allied to health services) within the less advantaged regions of the world and to provide more aid to those researchers trained overseas who wish return to their home countries.
BRAIN CAMPAIGN
The Brain Campaign provides small grants of up to 500 euros to assist groups organizing public education events to promote public understanding of the brain in IBRO's African, Latin American and Asian/Pacific regions.
REGIONAL FUNDING
IBRO Regional Committees provide funding opportunities for members of their region.
